Minnie C. Overstreet
Minnie C. Overstreet also known as (Aunt Minnie, Minnie C., Granny and Mother O) was born September 25, 1922 in Greenwood, Louisiana to Curry and Elizabeth Simmons. She then decided in her early young adult years to relocate to sunny California for a better job opportunity. Minnie came to Calexico, California in 1942; she then relocated to San Diego, California in 1943. While pursing her career of teaching she joined Calvary Baptist Church in the mid 1940’s where she met her husband Shirley E. Overstreet. Minnie and Shirley were united in holy matrimony in 1952. Shirley and Minnie Overstreet together have three boys Eric, Bryant and Carl Overstreet. Out of her three boys Minnie has 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grand-children who all love her dearly. Minnie wanted deeply to have a family reunion to re-unite, unite and introduce her family members. She feels that it is important for family to stay and pray together. She says “If you don’t know your history you won’t fully know yourselves”. She also wanted to have a family reunion to fellowship and build lifelong connections.
